Kangblabla’s New Web Comic

Q: What has occupied your thoughts, or you during this MCO ?

This whole pandemic has forced me to be stuck at home, unable to go about daily routines, and started me reminiscing about the old days; where I have noticed parallels that this year 2020,  shares with what I had gone through in 2010.

In 2010, I had just graduated from college and started drawing comics on a regular basis. Unsure on how to begin my career as a character artist, I started with an online presence; sharing my comics and characters on Facebook. In many ways, that helped me grow a small audience based who appreciated my work.

Now in 2020,  I find myself back in that situation, stuck at home with no other avenue than social media to share my comics and characters, which got me thinking of unfinished stories which I stopped creating, and thought perhaps it was time to start again.

Hence, I have a new Instagram page (@awwsarabi), which is a retelling / reboot of old comics I did back then. Perhaps its a ‘begin again’ of sorts, using this opportunity to find new connections and fans. I do not know where this will lead me; again the same thought i had back in 2010.

Q: What’s next for us?

I honestly do not know. What I know is that I continue doing the things I love, creating stories no matter how tough times may get. It has been tough being a full time artist, and not wanting to bend to the demands of budding clients, or even get another job to ease the struggle. As of now, I will stick to my way of doing things, fully believing in my vision. I do not see this changing anytime soon.
